Italian motor boats: new porthole in the shipowner's cabin, a window on the sea.
This new generation of portholes is the maximum representation of the extent to which technological research may help to achieve the unmistakable style of Ferretti Italian motor boats.
The design of a new big 'window on the sea' enabling to enjoy a breathtaking sea view without having to live sealed in the cabin, as it happens in some models produced by our competitors, is the result of the combination of top quality design and greatest attention to structure, materials and building techniques.
Ferretti Engineering has first carefully analysed the best materials available on the market, including highly resistant crystals, buying from firms specialised in the production of safe glasses, and then it has identified the best building and assembly methods ensuring utmost safety even in case of accidental impact.
These factors altogether guarantee a structural resistance of crystals much higher than that of the fibreglass on which they are installed.
The crystals used are stratified (they consist of a polycarbonate layer between two sheets of toughened glass) and have a total thickness of over 22 mm.
They are glued to the fibreglass of the structure with special type-tested polyurethane adhesives for nautical use, which guarantee great elasticity and maximum cohesion between the glass and the fibreglass of the hull.
The union of the three above-mentioned materials making up this innovative porthole was tested under the supervision of Ri.Na and showed to be able to perfectly resist stresses more than 4 times higher than those required by the regulation.
